Hawaii Event Photography: Floating Lanterns

Memorial Day evening a lantern lighting ceremony was held at Ala Moana Beach Park to honor and remember those who have passed on.
As my family looked on from their blanket on the sand, I waved good-bye and waded into the warm, calm water. Amidst the hundreds of people standing at the waters edge, it was such an experience to watch the floating lanterns drift out to sea. I was impressed by how polite the crowd was. It really added to the reverence of the evening.

After watching his dad do some tricks, Brent was all about the skateboard…for hours. He is such a determined little boy…and quite the dare devil! When he puts his mind to something he works and works at it until he’s a pro. Aren’t we all told when we are young that we can accomplish anything if we put our minds to it? That is so Brent. It makes me wonder what his future holds!

It’s amazing to me that children can be so fascinated by the simplest things…
like a fallen plumeria flower. It warrants such concentration!

One of the many things I love about toddlers.

There’s nothing like dancing on the beach! In fact, the beach was so crowded that day, it was difficult to dodge all the people on the sand and in the water. Leina was so patient while I moved around trying to block out dogs, men in speedos and the people walking right in front of us. It was quite a circus, but Leina is sweet and adorable and so much fun to photograph.

Elizabeth is one of the sweetest and coolest people I know. Her kids are so happy I just love spending time with them. Our day at Kalama Beach was hot and bright and really fun.
