Lively, fun and creative, the Christensen Family was a blast to take photos with. We headed up behind the Ko’olau Golf Course and spent some time hiking through the lush forest up the Old Pali Road trail. As a family who loves hiking together, it was a perfect place to capture their personalities and playfulness as a family.

Family Portraits Waialua: Paul & Deborah

It was a gorgeous afternoon up on the North Shore! Waialua never ceases to make a great backdrop for amazing family portraits! My brother and sister-in-law have been living up there this last year and now are heading back to the Mainland. It was the perfect time to photograph the family before they move.
We spent our time strolling the shops, playing in the fields & ended the photo shoot with a stop at the old Sugar Mill. Fun, joyful & whimsical, it was my idea of a fabulous photo session. Enjoy!

Moffat Family Portraits: Nuuanu, Oahu

Just a short hike into the jungle off the Nuuanu Pali, there is a nice little waterfall and a gorgeous bamboo forest. I loved photographing here. Scott and Molly are getting ready to leave the island, but not before one last family photo session. They really wanted to capture the lush, green surroundings they’ve come to love while living in Hawaii this last year. The location they picked was perfect for their family. Between climbing up tree stumps, jumping from rock to rock across the river, and hiking through the woods, our morning was filled with adventure.
Scarlet is a really happy baby. Her ready smile simply glows!
This is a truly classic moment. If you know Scott and Molly, you’ll recognize this is how they really are.
They are so in love and are just the sweetest couple you’ll ever meet!
I’m always looking for just the right direction of light that will really make the eyes shine. Little Scarlet has clear, bright, blue eyes and they catch the light so beautifully!

Miyahana Family: Family Portraits Oahu

The Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens in Kaneohe are absolutely gorgeous! I love shooting against all of the lush, tropical greenery. The view of the Ko’olau Mountains is amazing too. Photographing the Miyahana Family was a lot of fun. The kids were oh-so-cute and playful! It made for a great morning filled with smiles!

What’s On Your Wall?

What’s on your wall? What do you do with your Jenni Speed Photography images after the session is over? I love to see how my clients display their photographs that I took for them. I often see my images on display both at parties and in the home in fun, unique ways. So I have decided to start featuring some of them here on the blog. My hope is to inspire all of my clients to get their own images up and share ideas of the great ways to incorporate these artful images into your home decor.

To showcase my own family portraits, I had them printed onto a canvas collage and hung in the entry of our home. It’s lovely to see my children’s smiling faces on the wall. I love walking by them everyday! The colors are vibrant and the whole collage turned out so well!
I use BayPhoto for my professional printing lab because they are the BEST! Their quality is outstanding, they have great customer service and they use eco friendly printing processes. BayPhoto was recently featured on Greener Photography for their green business practices. All of the professional prints and canvas wraps my clients order through their online gallery, are printed from BayPhoto.

Smith Family Reunion: Lanikai Beach

Family reunions are never quite complete without a few rambunctious children. Fortunately, we had lots of opportunities to play and I think the kids had a pretty good time exploring, jumping and running around. It was super cute to see all of the cousins playing together. I loved the bright, fun colors the whole family wore. Coral, pink and orange was serious eye candy against the deep, turquoise ocean.
A family reunion was a fun and memorable end to their time on Oahu. The wonderful Ann Jex and her amazing family is moving all the way to Maryland, which feels like a world away. After spending many beach days at Lanikai the past couple of years, it was a delight to capture their last memories in Hawaii here.

It’s hard to believe they are already off to the Mainland and moving on to their next adventure. It has been such a treasure to know this amazing family these past 8 years. I absolutely love Kamie and her whole family and will miss them terribly!
Spending one of the last days on Oahu with the Berkey family was so wonderful. We headed out to North Beach for a nice evening session.

WPPI: Mike Larson+Family

During Me Ra Koh’s garden party at WPPI, she set up a couple of mini workshops. We were able to photograph, pose and be instructed by some of the industry’s top professional photographers. This one afternoon was the best part of my WPPI Las Vegas experience. It was so unexpected and yet it proved to be a real treasure to have been invited.
Mike Larson is a photographer in San Luis Obispo. He is amazing! Definitely check him out. His wife Rachel is a killer photographer as well. It was such a pleasure to photograph Mike and his darling little family. They have the sweetest little girl who was an absolute angel the whole time.

Dramatic, diverse, beautiful…North Beach was a perfect setting for the gorgeous Jensen family.
Creating a day where the family can make memories and spend an enjoyable time together is just as important to me as taking great pictures. I believe that the experience from start to finish really adds to the feelings and emotions behind the photographs.
By the end of the session, the kids were laughing and splashing in the ocean. The water was so cool and refreshing on such a warm morning. I love a playful ending like that!
I just couldn’t fit all of the photos I loved into the slideshow so below are some more of my favorites.

Oahu Family Reunion: A Time To Celebrate!

We met on a bright, sunny afternoon at Secret Beach out near the Ko’Olina Resort. I was honored to capture a very special reunion for the Hill Family. In celebration of several birthdays including Great Grandma’s 90th and Grandma’s 65th, they gathered on the island of Oahu to be together for this happy time. What a memorable four generation event!

Before when I’ve had the pleasure of taking photos of the Morse family, Kai has done a great job of running away from me. I love taking candid shots of the boys while chasing them around… and in fact, it’s one of my favorite parts of being a family photographer. Well, imagine my surprise when Kai is suddenly my best friend and cannot get enough of the camera! I mean, he was literally following me around saying, “take a picture of me doing this.” How cool is that?

Spring Mini-Sessions: Part ii
I must give a huge THANK YOU to Jamon and Aden who assisted me with their rabbits all day! They did not realize what they were getting themselves into. They were so helpful and amazing! Wow! I can’t say enough how impressed I was with all their hard work…and taking such good care of their bunnies.
There was a lot of chasing rabbits going on, but Jamon was on top of it. Seriously the coolest, nicest boy!

It was such a treat to see the Sanchez family again. The girls have grown up so much since sweet Penelope’s newborn photo session. They are the cutest little girls…so fun and rambunctious! I could play peek-a-boo around the tree all day with Olivia!

It seems the busier I am, the less I post. So much has happened this last month! Now it’s time to play catch up and post photos over the next couple of weeks of all the amazing events we’ve been apart of from WPPI, family portrait sessions, cousins, grandparents, hiking and a wedding too.
Here’s a few of the kids after celebrating a fun St. Patrick’s Day.
Spending the week with Grandma was such a treat. We love her and are sad she is leaving us so soon. We will miss you!
